Fluoride Treatments Prevent Cavities

Fluoride Protects Teeth

Fluoride treatments are one of the preventive services offered at Maison Dental to help strengthen enamel and protect against cavities. While not included in standard cleanings, fluoride may be recommended based on your oral health needs. These treatments involve a small additional cost but can offer added protection, especially for patients at higher risk of tooth decay.

Fluoride Treatments and Early Cavity Prevention

Fluoride treatments can help strengthen enamel and may assist in reversing the earliest stage of tooth decay. In some cases, early cavities appear as white or dark spots before enamel is permanently damaged. Professional fluoride application helps re-mineralize the enamel, offering an added layer of protection and potentially stopping early decay from progressing.

What to Expect During a Fluoride Treatment?

Fluoride treatments are quick, painless, and do not require any injections. A dentist or hygienist will apply the fluoride in the form of a varnish, foam, gel, or rinse. Depending on the type, it may be applied with a brush, swab, tray, or mouthwash. After application, the fluoride remains on your teeth to allow for optimal absorption. You’ll be advised to avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes following the treatment.
