A Root Canal Can Save a Tooth

Root Canals Are Important

Teeth that are infected or decayed often lead to a root canal. A root canal can help save natural teeth by removing the infection and putting a crown on the tooth to protect it. Maison Dental knows many may fear a root canal so we provide a supportive environment where we answer your questions and address concerns. Root canals are a routine treatment that supports your oral health.

Tooth Infections Are Painful

It is almost impossible to ignore an abscessed tooth because it can be incredibly painful. Left untreated, it can cause swelling and other complications. A root canal removes infected tissue, cleans out the space, and fills it with a substance to prevent another infection.

Steps of a Root Canal

Evaluation

A Maison Dental professional will examine your teeth, do an X-ray, and look at any underlying issues.

Root Canal Scheduled

The patient is given antibiotics and a root canal is scheduled. They may do an impression for a crown now or may wait until the root canal appointment.

Procedure

The area is numbed and the dentist or endodontist sets the infected area apart from the rest of the mouth. They test the area to make sure the tooth can be saved and drill into the tooth to get to the root. They remove the infected pulp.

Completing the Root Canal

The dentist then smooths out the root area and fills it with a material to prevent more infection. The tooth is sealed. They put in a filling and a temporary crown to protect the tooth until the final customized crown is ready.

Placing the Crown

You will return to the dental office when the customized crown is ready. The temporary crown is removed and the restoration is completed with the installation of a permanent crown.

Don't Live With Pain

Various issues can cause tooth pain. A tooth may be broken, which leads to infection or abscess. You can have a gum infection or a severe cavity. Call Maison Dental if you have mouth or tooth pain. We can look, end your immediate pain, and create a plan to remedy the underlying problem.
